Vardanta

Removing carbon.
Boosting income.
Enhancing soil.

Vardanta Earth partners with farming communities across India to turn agricultural biomass into biochar—locking carbon for over a thousand years while improving soil health and farmer livelihoods.

Hands holding biochar in an Indian farming context

Our mission

In partnership with farming communities across India, Vardanta develops high-integrity biochar and carbon removal projects rooted in scientific rigor and measurable impact.

Our goal is to remove 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide by 2028 while maintaining uncompromising standards of environmental responsibility, transparency, and farmer equity.

Our impact

  • 1M+tonnes CO₂ removal goal by 2028
  • Indiafarming communities we partner with
  • 1000+years carbon locked in soil

Our vision

Those most affected by climate change should lead the response. Through high-integrity biochar and carbon removal, farming communities across India can turn adversity into opportunity—driving global climate solutions while building soil fertility and financial stability.

For farmer communities, biochar projects create a chain of socio-economic benefits that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Climate action

Biochar locks carbon from biomass into a long-term, stable form in the soil for over 1,000 years. It acts as a carbon sink and supports soil health, making it a powerful tool for climate action.

  • Farmer livelihoods

Farmers earn additional income through biochar production and carbon credit revenue. Better soil means higher yields and lower input costs, strengthening economic resilience.

  • Life on land

Biochar restores fertility to degraded soils, boosts microbial life, and helps combat desertification. We support biodiversity and healthier ecosystems on farmland across India.

  • Gender equality

Women lead and participate at every level of our projects—from production to management. We offer equitable pay and leadership opportunities, fostering financial independence in rural areas.

  • Health & well-being

Replacing open burning of crop residue with biochar production reduces harmful smoke and air pollution. Biochar also helps keep toxins out of crops and supports healthier food production.

  • Partnerships for the goals

We work with NGOs, local enterprises, and thousands of farmers to produce biochar and sequester carbon. These partnerships are central to scaling impact and strengthening communities.
